It has been said that busy people usually have extremely strong work ethics, motivation, and drive to succeed, which is perhaps the main reason they are always busy. This has been the case for the tourism season this year especially seen in the accommodation, food and beverage, marine activities, tours and retail.
I am reminded by a close friend’s saying, who I will refer to as the other Mrs. P:
“In business there is no rest for the blessed”.

It has highlighted major capacity issues on Niue, both in private sector and public sector. It also highlights that valuing your human resources that you currently have in your business plays a big part in how well your business will perform in these busy times both in customer service and profitability.
Our NCOC office has also had no rest with the ongoing staff movements that seems to be a never-ending challenge. This has been the experience of many of our businesses and also our government agencies. And since our last issue – Roxanne Scanlan and Kate Roughan have moved on from NCOC due to personal and family commitments but we wish them the best for their future endeavors. Following their departure, we welcomed another new addition to the office – Myrtle Magatogia.

Myrtle joined our team in the month of August and will now continue to complete the delivery of the NCOC Entrepreneurship Education programme to both Niue Primary School and Niue High School for this year, reviewing the
programme ready for delivery in 2025. We are indeed fortunate that Myrtle joins the team in a position that she knows very well as a qualified teacher herself and also having worked in the Niue Development Bank prior to leaving for New Zealand with her family to obtain her teacher’s qualification.
This year, 2024 has been in full swing and NCOC work can get overwhelming as we continue in promotion, training, events as well as continuing to ensure that an enabling environment that is conducive for business operations is created, strengthened and advocated for along with succession planning with our entrepreneurship education for our future business leaders.
NCOC office is open Monday to Friday: 8:00am to 4:00pm. Drop in and talk business or let us help you in
your business or perhaps get into business.
