            NCOC’s 2025 International Women’s Day Event

On Friday, April 4th the Niue Chamber of Commerce (NCOC) hosted its 7th annual International Women’s Day Business Networking Event at the Scenic Matavai Resort. This year’s theme, “Accelerate Action”, was symbolized by the colour green, representing growth, momentum, and the collective drive to advance gender equality across all sectors.

The event brought together women from diverse backgrounds – Business owners, community leaders, students, and professionals to connect, share, and inspire one another. Attendees participated in interactive sessions, including group introductions featuring creative dance moves tied to the theme, fostering a vibrant and inclusive atmosphere.

Key presentations highlighted NCOC’s ongoing commitment to supporting women in business. Notably, NCOC’s membership has grown from 156 in 2011 to over 400 in 2025, with a significant increase in women-led enterprises. NCOC continues to offer services such as business training, funding assistance, and initiatives aimed at building climate-resilient businesses.

The event also emphasized the importance of cross-sector collaboration. Discussions focused on empowering women in government, faith-based organizations, health, and education. Strategies included setting measurable targets for women in leadership, co-designing projects with women, and promoting girls in STEM through mentorship and scholarships.

The success of the event was made possible through the support of development partners, including MFAT-NZ and the Government of Niue. Their contributions continue to play a vital role in advancing the NCOC’s mission to foster an inclusive and thriving private sector.

As the event concluded, attendees left with a renewed sense of purpose and commitment to accelerating action for gender equality. The NCOC remains dedicated to supporting women in business and looks forward to continuing this important work in the years ahead.
